| Origin & History |
The bull shark gets its name from its appearance, its long, broad, flat snout, and aggressive, unpredictable behavior. The French know this shark as the 'requin boulegouge', and the Spanish know it as the tiburon sarda. It is also known by many different common names throughout the world, this includes the Zambezi Shark.
The Bull shark was named by J.P. Mueller and Henle in 1839. The two combined gave it its binomial name Carcharhinus leucas.
